James Grover Tew, 89, of Slocomb, Alabama passed away peacefully on March 19, 2016 surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. 

Mr. Tew was born in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Clarence and Ida Tew. He was a life long farmer and in later years enjoyed working on his rental properties.  Mr. Tew was a member of New Teamon Baptist Church in Slocomb, Alabama where he served as a deacon for many years.  "Grover" was well known, loved and respected by his community.  He adored his wife, loved his family and cherished everyone of his friends. He was passionate about spending time with his loved ones and seeing them happy. 

In addition to his parents, Clarence and Ida Tew, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Chavis and brother, Clifton Tew. 

Mr. Tew leaves behind his wife of 73 years, Juanita Dunn Tew; daughter: Shirley Hughes (Rev. Huey), Slocomb, AL; daughter, Kathy Silvers (Carl), Newton, AL; son, Roger Tew (Gladys), Slocomb, AL; son, Terry Tew (Debbie), Slocomb, AL; brothers: Clinton Tew and Grady Tew; sisters: Mozell Kent, Flora Dell Roach and Onis Smith; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren. 

Pallbearers: Wendell Tew, Brad Tew, Tyler Asbell, Mark Tew, Colby Hughes, and Austin Hughes.

Honorary Pallbeares: Brian Hughes and Damian Crutchfield. 

A special thanks to caregivers Shelly Holton and Deborah Head.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am the daughter of Howell and Elizabeth Wilkinson, originally from Blue Springs, AL. Grover was Daddy's 4th cousin descending from William Nathan Reeder, Sr. and Rebecca Collins Reeder.
