Mrs. Sonja Driskell of Wicksburg went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Brian Presley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.
Mrs. Driskell was born March 5, 1937 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Robert and Mildred Rollf DeLancey. Sonja was a sweet, soft spoken Christian lady who possessed a kind and gentle spirit. She was a dedicated member of Piney Grove Assembly of God Church and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was a loving wife, caring mother and adoring grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, eight sisters, two brothers and one great-granddaughter, Lila Kate preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Don Driskell, Wicksburg; two daughters: Sue McSween (Ronnie), Newton and Lynn Carpenter (Terry), Wicksburg; one son, LaDon Driskell (Linda), Wicksburg; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Driskell family, we are so sorry for your lose of Sister Driskell, She was such a sweet, loving & caring lady, who we thought alot of. We remember her playing the organ at Piney Grove, and seeing God's love & grace on her face. She is rejoicing with our Lord now. I always remember Mrs. Driskell as a sweet, well dressed lady who wore a warm smile. I am sorry for your loss and may God wrap his loving arms around each of you during this time. She was blessed to have such a loving family as you all are blessed to have such a treasure waiting in Heaven.
