Mrs. Ruby Thomley Jones of Wicksburg passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Wicksburg with Rev. Teddy Ward, Rev. Buddy Hood and Minister David Thomley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.
Ruby was born October 20, 1925 in Houston County to the late James Leon and Vera Bell Greathouse Thomley. She was a member of the first class to graduate from Wicksburg High School and was later employed at the school for 10 years until her retirement. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who possessed a caring passion for her family and was a source of inspiration and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 62 years, Edker Jones; brothers: Tom, Ray, Ralph, Raymond and Ronnie Thomley preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter: Lorinda Jones Moore of Wicksburg; five grandchildren: Velvet Kiley (Marc), Daleville, Chasity Etheredge (Chris),Wicksburg, Jason Moore, Wicksburg, Shannon Wehunt (Robbie), Enterprise and Casey Moore (Starla), Daleville; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Maureen Barnes (Charlie), Enterprise; sisters-in-law: Jonnie Thomley, Wicksburg and Margie Thomley, Dothan; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
