Mr. Dewey C. Holloway of Slocomb passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Dicky McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that you remember Mr. Dewey with your memorial contribution to Gentiva Hospice or your favorite charity.
Mr. Holloway was born May 27, 1931 in Geneva County to the late Lennie L. and Valeta Dunaway Holloway. Dewey retired from Twitchell after 41 years of dedicated service. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of VFW # 4426.
Dewey loved spending time working outdoors and was an avid Alabama football fan. Dewey was a quiet and gentle man who rarely got excited except when his grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Ruth H. Golden and two brothers: Roy and Floyd Holloway preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanette Arrington Holloway, Slocomb; daughter, Freda Howell (Joe Neal), Slocomb; son, Terry Holloway (Tyla), Dothan; five grandchildren: Adam Howell (Tiffany), Amanda Jones (Lee), Anna Fisher (Josh), Tara Holloway and Tanner Holloway; four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
