Mrs. Marie Thomas Peterman of Malvern passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at SAMC. She was 77.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Peterman will then be taken to Purvis Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
Mrs. Peterman was born December 18, 1936 in Geneva County to the late Cohen and Mildred Collins Saunders. She was a lifelong resident of Malvern and graduated from Slocomb High School in 1955. Mrs. Peterman possessed a loving and kind spirit. She owned and operated Thomas Grocery in Malvern for many years and later retired from Sony.
In addition to her parents, her first husband and the father of her children, Dolan Thomas preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of six years, Ricky Peterman, Malvern; one daughter, Tammy VanWinkle (Tom), Slocomb; one son, Tommy Thomas, Malvern; two granddaughters: Rebecca Lea VanWinkle and Charla Deanna Thomas; three great grandchildren: Ashley, Nathan and Alex; one sister, Burma Katherine Proctor (Larry); two brothers: Billy Saunders (Betty), and Bruce Saunders (Melony) all of Malvern; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
