Mr. Roy Wayne Saunders of Malvern, loving father and “Papa Roy”, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 23, 2014 at SAMC.  He was 78. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27 at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker and Rev. Coley Meyer Holloway officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.   

 

Flowers are appreciated but in lieu of them, donations can also be made to the Malvern Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 97, Malvern, AL 36349.   

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  

 

Mr. Saunders was born May 6, 1936 in Geneva County to the late Wayne B. and Lessie Lina Saunders.  He was married to the late Carolyn Saunders, his loving wife of over 53 years and they resided in town of Malvern. Mr. Saunders was a member of Malvern Baptist Church. 

 

In addition to his parents, his loving wife, Carolyn Jones Saunders and a brother, Doyce Saunders preceded him in death. 

 

Survivors include two sons: Wayne Saunders (Krista), Dothan and Jason Saunders (Carol), Hartford; sister, Sabie Suggs (Mack), Tifton, GA; brother, Paul Saunders, Malvern; two grandchildren: Cole and Kyleigh Grace Saunders; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.  

 

Pall bearers will include Mr. Saunders many nephews. 

 

A special thanks to the family’s loyal friend, Mr. David McCall.
