Mrs. Gloria Ann Carpenter of Wicksburg went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at UAB in Birmingham. She was 57.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Gibson and Juston Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Gloria was born March 18, 1957 in Houston County to Jeanette Smith and the late Jennings Earl Smith. She was member of Panther Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Gloria loved to go fishing and to sew. Gloria had a beautiful voice and loved to sing at her church.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Hulon “Jr.” Carpenter, Wicksburg; son, Juston Carpenter (April) and three grandchildren: Owen, Destiny, and Rebecca , Hartford; mother, Jeanette Smith, Wicksburg; sister Debbie Speigner (Randy), Midland City; Brother-in-law Randall Carpenter (Kathy), Wicksburg; sister-in-law Sarah Woodham (John), Wicksburg; and several nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends.
