Mr. Don Handy of Hartford, formerly of Glasgow, KY, passed away, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Flowers Hospital. He was 71.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at Hartford City Cemetery with Rev. Victor Parker officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
Mr. Handy was born Sept. 9, 1942 in Princeton, KY to the late Murl Julian and Mary Catherine Dean Handy.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Riley Dean Handy preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Juavue Handy, Hartford; two daughters: Lydia Lynn McKay (John), Glenellyn, IL and Sherry Lea Douglas, Streamwood, IL; one son, Ty Julian Handy, (Kimberly), Niceville, FL; four grandsons: Jon Handy, Beau Handy, Andrew Douglas and Alan Douglas; one sister, Brenda Matthews (Bob), Big Canoe, GA; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Don. I have many great memories with him at the skating rink. I will miss him a lot my prayers are with you all.

With deepest sympathy. Mr. Handy you were the best. You provided a safe place for us kids in Glasgow to hang out. The memories that we all have from the skating rink will forever be. There are no telling how many parents you called over the years but we are all better adults now because of it. Those all night skate/dance parties were so much fun. Friday night skates along with Saturday night and Sunday afternoons, yep. that's where my money went. Rest in Peace! praying for peace for the family...
Our heart's are sadden at your lost. Not only was he a friend to us, he became like a father figure. Our prayer is that the peace of God rest with in your heart. He touched my family and we love you all. May God's blessings be upon each of you.
