It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Brown, born August 19, 1942, in Newberry, FL. Jerry graduated from Newberry High School, where he was an active member of the sports community, showcasing his athletic prowess and dedication to teamwork.
A man of deep faith, Jerry was an esteemed member of Bay Springs Baptist Church. His love for music and singing was only rivaled by his devotion to his family, who were the center of his world. Jerry's professional journey was as varied as it was successful. He began his career as a farmer and a watermelon broker, a testament to his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. His passion for construction led him to build and remodel homes, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and dedication. In a significant chapter of his life, Jerry moved to Dothan, AL, where he became a licensed Realtor. His easygoing demeanor and warmth touched many lives within the realty community. Jerry's professionalism and genuine care for others made him a beloved figure among his colleagues and clients alike. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He was also deeply committed to serving his church, embodying the values of faith and community in all aspects of his life.
Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Mildred, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He is also survived by his sons, Jerry Brown Jr. (Brenda), Scott Brown, and daughter, Kimberly Brown. As a grandfather, he was adored by Amy Pritchett (Jeremy), Bradley Sanders, Steven Hardwick, Aaron Brown, Sabrina Townsend (Connor), and Tyler Brown (Grace). His great-grandchildren, Maverick, Finleigh, Eleanor, Charlotte Pritchett, and Baker Grace Brown, will always remember him with love and affection.
Jerry Brown's life was a testament to the values of faith, family, hard work, and community. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Green officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Newberry Cemetery in Newberry, Florida.
