 Mrs. Susan “Susie” Diane Dorriety of Taylor passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was 77.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. Interment will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery.

 The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

 Mrs. Dorriety was born June 16, 1947, in Houston County to the late Harlan Ray (H.R. Smith Tractor) and Velinda Eddins Smith. Susie attended Dothan High School, worked in civil service, and retired from the Houston County Probate Office. She lived a simple life, loving the sound of rain on a metal roof.  Susie always had a green thumb and enjoyed bringing life back to plants.  She had a passion for always helping others and giving to those in need. She was a dedicated Alabama football fan! Susie loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always doing the extra special things to make sure they knew!

 In addition to her parents, sister, Debby Smith Hasty; uncle, Thaxton Pete Smith; and a cousin, Bobby Smith, all preceded her in death.

 Survivors include her sons: Ty Chailland (Susan), and Willie Dorriety (Shana); grandchildren: Jordan Chailland (Erica), and Harlan Dorriety; great grandchildren: Kassie, Ellie, and Makenzie Chailand; aunt, Nina Jo Smith Dismukes; cousins: Geary Dismukes, Richard Dismukes, Shelia Dismukes, Steven Smith, and Becky Smith; other extended family and friends.
