Dewey Godwin

Mr. Dewey Ray Godwin of Slocomb passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama.  He was 85.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Dewey Ray Godwin was born December 12, 1939, in Geneva County to the late Malcomb and Beulah Clark Godwin. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, being on the tractor,  and tending to his garden. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, three brothers: John, Moody, and Cecil Godwin; two sisters: Mary Wilkinson and Burnice Hendrix, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Janice Moss Godwin; daughter, Dianne Bryant(Phillip); son, Donald Godwin(Debra); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Godwin; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
