Mr. James A. “Jimmy” Harris passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home in Hartford, Alabama.  He was 100.  

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Patrick Dyess officiating.  Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. 

Mr. Harris was born January 3, 1924, in Geneva County to the late John and Maudie Sorrells Harris. Jimmy was a member of the greatest generation, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy during WW II. He was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church, was a loving and adoring, husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his parents, spouse of over 25 years, Lenora Harris; sisters: Gladys Deal, Lois Buckworth, Jonnie M. Hallford, and Dorothy Cozart; brother: Hoyt Harris, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Harris Owen; son, Michael Campbell (Linda); grandchildren: Tyler James Owen, Krista Lynne Owen; great-granddaughter, Jaden Story; brothers: Wallace Harris, and George H. Harris; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
