The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.Mrs. Avery was born August 22, 1925, in Geneva County to the late Roy and Cary Mae Jackson Spivey. A lifelong and active member of Slocomb First Baptist Church, Jeanette’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Even in her last months, when she could no longer attend services in person, she remained spiritually connected, faithfully watching services on television. Her church community was her second family, and her unwavering faith was a legacy she passed down to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette was a devoted wife to Randall for 71 years, and together they built a beautiful family. Her life was a testament to nurturing, love and care. Filling a table with delicious food and making all who entered her home feeling seen and cared for was Jeanette’s calling in life. She loved her family deeply and always looked forward to having a full kitchen or dining room table. Known for her famous 13-layer chocolate cake, dumplings and listening ear, no one left her house hungry or burdened. Her Bible, always by her side, was a symbol of the deep faith that guided her every day. Jeanette’s legacy of love, faith, and hospitality will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Thank you to Kathy Skinner and to Dayspring Hospice employees Samantha, Lynn, and Sonya for taking special care of Jeanette.
