It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of David Michael Clifford in Rehobeth, AL on July 18th, 2024.
Dave battled cancer for the last 4 years and peacefully passed in his home surrounded by his close family, wife Sandra Clifford, son Dustin Clifford and daughter-in-law Emily Clifford. Even in the final days before his passing, Dave continued to be the humorous and caring man that could bring levity to any situation and make everyone feel at ease.
Dave grew up in Rio Grande Valley in south Texas, with one sister, raised by parents Donald Clifford and Evelyn Baxter. In his younger years he married Beth Clifford and they had two children, Dustin and Brittany Clifford. Dave was a true self-taught man of the trades that owned a boat business (Shallow Runner Inc., Clifford Boat Works) for 15+ years of his life and an aluminum fabrication business (Right Ascension) for the 5+ years prior. Dave was a master of electric guitar and enjoyed playing in his past rock and roll band (Mumbles) where he even opened for the band, Three Dog Night, among other big acts in his earlier years. Dave continued to enjoy playing his electric guitars throughout his life and especially with his son as a drum accompaniment. Another love for Dave was fishing where he took his family out often on the boat he built, where they would frequently fish the waters of the upper Laguna Madre. Later in life Dave remarried Sandra Clifford and relocated to Dothan, AL. There Dave undertook the momentous task of building his own home, with support and encouragement from his loving wife. He built his home from the ground up, which included clearing land and tearing down old houses for re-claimed lumber and materials.
Dave will be well-remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, even in trying times where he could put a smile on the saddest of faces. Dave’s positive outlook and genuinely care-free attitude on life was infectious to those nearest to him. Dave always had an open heart to those in need and was willing to help others if he was able to. Dave’s zeal for unparalleled creativity and excellent problem-solving was highly admired by those who knew him. Dave will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends but fond memories from those who have had the pleasure of interacting with Dave over the years will remain everlasting.
