Monday, January 20, 1941 - Wednesday, May 22, 2024
Glenda Faye Tindell of Slocomb, Alabama passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 83.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Brad Price officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm. Family will receive friends until the time of the service. Chuck Rich, Zach Shiver, Sam Kinman, and Jacob Spence will serve as pallbearers.
Glenda was born on January 20, 1941 to the late Robert Oyer and Jennie Pearl Helms. She was the sister of Bobby Helms, who precedes her in death. Glenda married Horace Tindell in 1959 and they spent 62 years together. Glenda’s most cherished accomplishment was raising their daughters, Jennie and Stacie. Once her girls were grown, Glenda, affectionately known as Granny, especially enjoyed traveling to the mountains, taking cruises, spending time (and lots of money) in the casino, watching Braves games and Alabama football, and most of all, spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as she was allowed to. She was stubborn and sassy, steadfast and strong, and possessed the ability to love harder than anyone in the world. She loved her family well and was loved beyond measure. Her absence leaves a gaping hole in her family’s lives, but we know there is a place where we will get to feel her hugs and hand squeezes again one day.
Glenda is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother. She is also preceded in death by her lifelong best friend and husband, Horace, who we are certain greeted her with the warmest smile and biggest hug.
Survivors include her children- Jennie Rich (Chuck) of Thomasville, GA and Stacie Johnson of Slocomb, AL; grandchildren- Morgan Sullivan (Robyn) of Thomasville, GA, Anna Shiver (Zach) of Thomasville, GA, Kara Kinman (Sam) of Slocomb, AL, and Jacob Spence of Slocomb, AL; great-grandchildren- Blake and Barrett Kinman of Slocomb, AL. Glenda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she held very close to her heart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westside Terrace Healthcare in Dothan and CenterWell Home Health in Dothan.
