Mr. Loyd Hugh Coker of Slocomb passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024.  He was 86. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Royce Morrow and Kevin Dixon officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burns Assembly of God Church Cemetery with military honors. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time. 

In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to Burns Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Mr. Coker’s memory. 

Mr. Coker was born September 21, 1937 in Geneva County to the late Henry Grady and Pastoria Outlaw Coker.  He retired from the US Army National Guard after 30 years of honorable service to his country. Loyd also retired after many years as a long-haul truck driver with numerous companies.  

In addition to his parents; grandson; Austin Jene Williams; mother of his children, Carolyn Culverhouse Coker Shiver; sister, Ivey Jean Kimbro; previous wife, Sarah Hinson Coker all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his children: Jeffrey Coker (Loraine), Stephen Coker, and Sharon Raybon (Kevin); siblings: Juanita Hall, Sandra Dixon, Royce Coker, Randall Coker (Digna); grandchildren: Heather Diann Williams, Joseph Noah Coker, Shelinah Hope Lozano (Trey), and Lyndon James Coker; three great grandchildren: Jacob Lee Williams, Rylee Hope Strickland, and Payslee Sage Strickland; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
