Ms. Mary Ann Sawyer of Slocomb passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Flowers Hospital. She was 73.

The family will have a celebration of life at her daughter Christie Brannon’s residence from 1:00 pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Ms. Sawyer was born November 7, 1950, in Dale County to the late William Frank Mauldin and Aline Vernell Mauldin. She was a caregiver and known to many as “Granna”. Mary was spontaneous, adventurous, and always full of life. She loved spoiling her grandchildren as well as her cats and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. 

In addition to her parents, two brothers and two sisters all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Christie Brannon (Johnny) two sons: Mark Sorrells (Brandi), and Jason Valverde; grandchildren: Christina Sorrells, Michael Sorrells, Colby Sorrells, McKennah Blackmon, Breanna Valverde, Ciarra Valverde Hill (Lawrence), Jaxon Valverde and Jayden Valverde; great grandchildren: Brenton Lynch, Ashlyn Messick, Dinah Anne Guccione, and Palmer Sorrells; one sister, Sara Parker and  several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
