Jesse Ray Thomas

Mr. Jesse Ray Thomas of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  He was 93. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Dr. J. Chris Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Lee’s Chapel Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. 

Mr. Thomas was born March 30, 1930 in Geneva County to the late Joseph H. and Susie M. Meadows Thomas. Jesse possessed a servant’s heart and was a dedicated member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he served in various capacities including deacon and music director for many years.  He was an avid Alabama football fan.  Jesse was a loving husband, adoring father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.   

In addition to his parents, siblings: Paul Thomas, W.L. Thomas, Lois Hinson, Sarah Heffron, Lottie Dodd, Bessie Lassiter, and Jean Thomas, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Bobbie Jean Thomas; children: Allison Thomas, and Adrian Thomas; grandchildren: Chase Thomas (Jessi), Drew Thomas (Madison), Preston Thomas, and Hayden Thomas; great grandchildren: Emma Chase Thomas and Collins Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
