 Mrs. Betty Bonner of Newton passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 at her home. She was 82. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Singley and Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Building Fund in Mrs. Bonner’s memory. 

Mrs. Bonner was born March 1, 1941 in Hartford to the late Ploma L. and Vera Mae Ketchum Norris. Betty was married to the love of her life for 64 years. Alongside her husband she raised their family and traveled the United States and Europe while he was in the United States Air Force. Betty and Rex made wonderful and fond memories traveling in their RV, following the Crimson Tide and going to the beach, and making memories with their grandchildren for 30 years. 

In addition to her parents, sister Margaret Pratt, and brother, Don Norris preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband, Rex Bonner; daughters: Denise Thomley, and Cindy Wyatt; son, Ken Bonner (Yolanda); grandchildren: Travis Bonner, Stephen Vallandingham, Joshua Thomley (Rebekkah), Rachal Gainey (Chris), Kennedy Bonner, and Christian Wyatt; great grandchildren: Abby Gainey, Colton and Gunner Vallandingham; sister-in-law, Manillion “Missy” Norris; special loving member of the family “adopted daughter”, Mary Guilford; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 

A special thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for all of the love and care that was provided.
