Mr. Dennis Michael Mills of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Southeast Health. He was 79. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Timmy Dyke and Rev. Kent Lampp officiating. Interment will follow in the Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Bill Taylor officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in Michael’s honor to Christian Home Baptist Church. 

Mr. Mills was born August 6, 1944 to the late James Roland and Mary Watford Mills. Michael was a great man of faith who loved his Lord, and was member of Christian Home Baptist Church where he faithfully led music for 49 years, served as a deacon; as well as serving in many other capacities.  He was a great American farmer, feeding many local families with crops he harvested and sold at Mills Produce, enjoyed spending time outdoors, and never met a stranger. A proud United States Navy Veteran, Michael honorably served two tours in Vietnam and later was a member of the Navy Reserves. 

Survivors include his wife Daisy Pullum Mills, Slocomb; daughter, Amy Keller (Jeff), Slocomb; son, Todd Mills (Sherrie), Pelham, GA; grandchildren: Micah Shiver, Slocomb, Alaina Holder (Toby), Slocomb, and Anna Wood (Bailey), Prattville; great grandchildren: Kadon Shiver, Jonah Holder, Emory Holder, Daisy Ann Holder, Cora Wood, and Cohen Wood; sister, Martha Jean Peters (Billy Max); brother Cullen Mills (Susan); aunt, Ida Lee Boswell; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
