Robert Earl Adkinson

Mr. Robert Earl Adkinson of Headland passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 80. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the chapel of Wright’s Funeral Home & Crematory in Headland.  Interment will follow in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time. 

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made in Mr. Adkinson’s honor to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; C/O Christopher Culp, 320 CR 49, Headland, AL 36345. 

Mr. Adkinson was born May 24, 1943, in the Tumbleton Community of Henry County to the late Oyd and Donnie Baker Adkinson. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Adkinson Lindsey. 

Survivors include his children, Kathie Adkinson (Tammy), Bobby Adkinson, and Donny Adkinson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Martha “Mott” Parmer; brother, John William Adkinson (Ellen); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Southeast Health for the care they provided, and to Robert’s friends and neighbors for their kind words and uplifting visits.  Matthew 25:40 “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
