Wednesday, February 27, 1929 - Thursday, October 12, 2023

Mrs. Rosa Lee “Nana” Odom of Abbeville went home to be with her Lord Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Henry County Health and Rehab Center. She was 94.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Hodgesville Baptist Church (11190 South CR33, Dothan, AL 36301) with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Odom was born February 27, 1929 in Geneva County to the late Perry Clyde and Ella Merle Clark McNeal.  Rosa loved her Lord, possessed a deep faith, and endeavored to draw closer to her Savior daily. She adored her family, and embodied the true meaning of a “Southern Lady”.  She had a great work ethic, provided for her family, and instilled in them Godly values.  Rosa’s home was always open to family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, and made the best biscuits and banana pudding. You never left her home hungry. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”

In addition to her parents, the father of her children, Hubert Dalton Odom; grandson, Steve DeVane; and son-in-law, Orbie DeVane, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children: Charles Wayne Odom (Sylvia), Patricia Odom Devane, Timothy Doyle Odom (Cindy); nine grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; twenty-one great-great grandchildren; siblings: Margaret McNeal Skipper, James Ellis McNeal, Mildred Ann McNeal Davis, and Gerome Clark McNeal (Cathrine); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank Angie Jones with Gentiva Hospice and also the staff at Henry County Health and Rehab in Abbeville for the love and care that was shown to their mother during this time.
