Mr. Johnny K. Cumbie of Slocomb passed away peacefully Friday, October 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 56.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Slocomb with Rev. Brad Price officiating.  Interment will follow in the Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Cumbie was born May 16, 1967 in Dale County to Maryann Pouncy Cumbie and the late Johnny K. Cumbie, Sr.  Johnny was a graduate of Wicksburg High School, Class of 1985 and served honorably in the United States Air Force.  He was employed with M1 Support Services at Ft. Novosel for 21 years.  He was a devoted husband and adoring father who loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his father, grandparents: Rex & Louise Cumbie, and Harry & Ruby Pouncey, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Leah Smith Cumbie; two daughters: Hannah Crosby and Haley Crosby, all of Slocomb; mother, Maryann Cumbie, Clayhatchee; brothers: Brad Cumbie (Stephanie), and Jason Cumbie, both of Clayhatchee; special aunts: Diane McKnight, and Margie Ganous, both of Clayhatchee; best friend, Russell Mills, Homer, LA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Tabitha with Gentiva Hospice for her love and care.
