Lillie Ruth Loden

Mrs. Lillie Ruth Loden of Slocomb passed away September 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 94. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartford with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time. 

Mrs. Loden was born September 1, 1929 in Black, AL to the late Willie Marcel and Ethel Branton Skipper. She grew up in the years of the great depression. Her hands were hard from working the fields to the sewing mills most of her life. Ruth’s wits were hard and strong, but her heart was soft and gentle. She was a great mother, her sons loved her and she taught them honesty and to walk tall in all matters of life. Her nieces and nephews loved her dearly and were by her side in the end. She lived longer than all her family and prayed for their home coming daily. 

Survivors include three sons: Max Loden, Kennie Loden, and Darrell Loden; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
