Mrs. Rebecca “Fay” Ketchem of Hartford passed away peacefully Friday, August 18, 2023 at her home. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at St. Paul Church with Rev. Johnny Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Ketchem’s honor to The Freedom House of Slocomb or GFCC Mosaic School of Ministry.
Mrs. Ketchem was born July 25, 1945 in Covington County to the late Alfred and Martha Audrey Robins Holley. Fay owned and operated Fay’s Beauty Shop in Hartford from 1969 until her retirement in July 2019. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her family and friends. Fay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 36 years, Major Frank Ketchem; sisters: Deborah Hall and Jane Flowers all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Cherie Orr; son, Jason Ketchem (Summer); grandchildren: Emily Orr Justice (Tyler), Adam Orr, Jason Hunter Ketchem, Audrey Ketchem, Alex Ann Ketchem, Andrew King (Ashton); great grandchildren: Lillan Justice, Everly Ann Justice, and Saybe Kate Justice; siblings, Ellen Cassidy, Buddy Holley, and Terry Holley; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family will like to extend a special thank you to their beloved friend, Pam Strickland. Pam was Mrs. Fay’s bonus sister that helped take care of her for several years. Special thanks to the office of Dr. Simmons. Dr. Simmons and his staff were always so kind and thoughtful. A heartfelt thanks to Mary Turner and Lana Bond for always keeping Fay looking pretty.
Serving as pallbearers: Adam Orr, Hunter Ketchem, Craig Cassidy, Bobby Cassidy, Clay Hall, and Brad Hall.
