Mr. David “Pappy” Cooke of Hartford passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at his home. He was 55. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Stacy Stafford officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

Mr. Cooke was born February 3, 1968, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Dwight “Bud” Cooke and the late Rhonda Cooke. Dave proudly served his country in the Navy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his grand babies, and shooting his guns. Dave was a humble man of God and follower of Christ. He believed in God and family first, and was strong in his values, faith, and morals. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his mother, Rhonda Short Cooke; one brother, Dennis Michael Cooke; grandparents: Has B and Floys Short, Charles and Catherine Welch, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Cooke; daughter, Samantha Gloria Cooke Bennett and her husband Kyle Stephen; sons: Zachary David Cooke and his wife Taylor Ashlyn, and David Isaac Cooke; grandchildren: Violet Wren Cooke, Teddy Oliver Cooke (Zachary), Sadie Grace Bennett, Klayton Wayne Bennett, Kash David Bennett (Samantha); father, Dwight “Bud” Cooke and his wife Kim; brother, Douglas Alan Cooke and his wife Shannon; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and WAC’s (Cousins), and other family and friends.

He sounds like he was a great man. I don't know him but I do know his father. We all know he is living in glory now with a glorified body. Saying I'm praying for the family - that they will find comfort and peace in this time of sorrow. My prayers for the entire family from this day forward.
