Junior Ready

Mr. Junior Ready of Malvern passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Southeast Health.  He was 96. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Royce Morrow officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burns Assembly of God Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time. 

Mr. Ready was born February 17, 1927, in Houston County to the late G. C. and Lina Clark Ready.  Junior was a member of “The Greatest Generation” and honorably served in the United States Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. 

In addition to his parents, a son, Ricky Ray Ready; a grandson, Ricky Ready; a stepdaughter, Vicky Chalker; a stepson, Terry Justice; two brothers and two sisters all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Ready; two sons: Dicky Ready (Sue), and Micky Ready (Joanie); grandchildren: Nikki Ready, Andrew Ready (Shanta), Roger Ready (Melissa), Dicky Ready Jr.; a great granddaughter, Teresa Ready; stepsons: Ricky Justice (Gail), and Phillip Justice (Debra); step son-in-law, Mike Chalker; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
