Mrs. Judy Faye Simmons of Taylor went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Wicksburg Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Simmons was born March 25, 1939 in Newville, AL to the late John Virgil and Lucille Goff Grantham. Affectionately know as “Granny” to many, Judy was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and neighbor. She retired in 2001 after 17 years as a lunchroom worker and bus driver for Rehobeth High School. Most importantly she was a strong and faithful Christian. Mrs. Simmons loved her church family dearly. Her service, prayers, influence, and sweet tea will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Edward Earl Simmons; sisters: Virginia Woodham and Ruby Andrews; brother, Junior Grantham, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons: Tim Simmons (Kim), and Tony Simmons; grandchildren: Annabeth Simmons, Allison Simmons, Abigail Simmons, and Amberli Simmons; sister, Betty Simmons; sister-in-law, Julia Simmons Garrett; dear friend, John Cook, her loving church family, several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
