Gwendolyn D. "Gwen" Ball

Mrs. Gwendolyn D. “Gwen” Ball of Slocomb passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at her home. She was 72. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Slocomb First Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or to Slocomb First Baptist Church Library, 225 North Dalton Street, Slocomb, AL 36375 in Gwen’s memory. 

Mrs. Ball was born July 19, 1949 in Dale County to the late George Herschell and Dorothy Hicks Holmes. Gwen was a member of Slocomb First Baptist Church and was very involved in the church. She enjoyed singing and was the ultimate hostess. Gwen loved spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed. 

In addition to her parents, her husband, Kenneth Ball and her daughter, Tonya Collins preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her granddaughter, Danarae Vann (Hunter); nieces: Marie Watson (Chris) and Amanda Teal (Scott) other extended family and friends.
