Gary was born March 31, 1945 in Geneva County to the late Wilburn V. and Ranzie Lee Armstrong. Gary was a 1964 graduate of Geneva County High School and accepted God’s call into ministry in 1976 leading many souls to Christ! Most recently, he pastored Izagora Congregational Methodist Church. He loved unconditionally, would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and was passionate in spreading the gospel to everyone! Most importantly, he was a Godly husband, father, grandfather and leader to his family. He retired from Fort Rucker after 42 years and worked his Armstrong farm. Gary loved to travel with his lovely wife, loved his mustang, his cows, and his farm; but most importantly, he loved God, his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. He will be dearly missed!

In addition to his parents, a sister, Cynthia Knowles, and special aunt, Pauline Brown, all preceded him in death.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Juaneita Armstrong; children: Marice Armstrong (Pat), Miranda Armstrong,  LaKisha Armstrong Grooms (Jason), Lydian Wray, Paul Mathews (Jennifer), Mike Mathews, Melanie Taft (Greg), and Clint Mathews (Aprel); grandchildren: Austyn Leonard, LeLayna Grooms, Lawson Grooms, Brittnee Doss (Tim), Justin Grooms, Anna Wright, Alexis Wray, Vince Wray, Ava Mathews, Shelby Taft, Theo Taft, Haley Mathews, and Alexander Mathews; great grandchildren: Emma & Barrett Doss; several  nieces, nephews, cousins, including Bobby Armstrong, and other extended family and friends.

The family is so thankful to the Lord Jesus for blessing them with such a Godly example!
