Mr. William “Bill” Cephus Skelton

Mr. William “Bill” Cephus Skelton of Wicksburg passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Hartford Health Care.  He was 83. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Bob Blalock officiating.  Interment will follow in the Panther Creek Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. 

Mr. Skelton was born January 6, 1938 in Henry County to the late Oscar and Hilda Baker Skelton. Bill enjoyed spending time working on heavy equipment, cutting grass, and fishing.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his parents, sisters: Mary “Liz” Mitchell, and Rhonda Loftin; brother, James B. Skelton; granddaughter, Meagan Elmore; and nephew, Mark Loftin, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Glenda Wilson Skelton; children: Sheryl Skelton Elmore (David), William Todd Skelton (Vallie), and Kristy Skelton Jackson (Lee); five grandchildren: Kristen Johnson (Kyle), Jamie Leverette, Kaci Conrad, William Cody Skelton, and Virginya Hathaway; five great grandchildren; sister, Martha Blalock; brother, Thomas E. Skelton (Lillian); sister-in-laws, Carolyn Hulon, and Jacqueline Peters (Rev. Bobby Ned); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
