Mrs. Cynthia Armstrong Knowles of Slocomb went to be with her Lord Saturday, May 2, 2020, at her home after an extended illness. She was 71. 

A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Hartford City Cemetery with Rev. Josh Alderman officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

Mrs. Knowles was born June 1, 1948, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Wilburn and Ranzie Armstrong. She was a 1966 graduate of Geneva County High School. She married her husband Noah on May 18, 1968 and enjoyed forty-six years of marriage before his death in 2014. Mrs. Knowles retired as a special services aide with Geneva County Schools where she spent her career working at Slocomb Schools. A member of First Freewill Baptist Church, she was active in WAC and served as state treasurer. Mrs. Knowles also spent time volunteering with the Alabama Freewill Baptist Children’s Home as a house parent. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Knowles was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Sydney Grace Martin. 

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Parrish (John) and son Kevin Knowles; brother Gary Armstrong; and grandchildren Sam Martin, Emma Martin, Mallory Knowles, and Kasen Knowles.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may made in Mrs. Knowles memory to the Alabama Freewill Baptist Children’s Home in Eldridge, AL. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Scott McAllister and staff for the extraordinary care and compassion shown to Mrs. Knowles during her illness.
