Mr. Foyal “Al” Sanford Carter, Jr. of Hartford passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving father, and sisters, Brenda, Connie, and Dianne. He was 63.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Ricky Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until service time.

Al was born March 22, 1956 in Hartford, AL to Foyal Sanford Carter, Sr. and the late Betty Sue Carter. He lived in Hartford most of his life and loved his hometown. He grew up with many childhood friends and they have always remained close; especially, Michael Brunson, who was Al’s best friend. Al was very gifted and well educated. He was a carpenter by trade, an artist, and possessed a great love of music. He played the guitar all of his life and wrote many beautiful songs. Al fought a hard battle with lung cancer, and in the end, was ready for his beautiful journey with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
In addition to his mother, Betty Sue Carter, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Foyal Carter; grandmother, Willie Lee Carter; and brother-in-law, Timothy White.
Survivors include his children whom he loved greatly: John Foyal Carter (Jessica), and Carol Anne Carter; two beautiful granddaughters: Aspen Dealie Carter and Lily Elizabeth Carter; father, Foyal Sanford Carter, Sr.; sisters: Brenda Lee MacConnell (Robert), Connie Sue Hawkins (Patrick), Dianne Carter Romano (Tony); uncle, Larry Carter (Patricia); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
