Mr. David Dwayne Fugate of Malvern passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 19, 2013. He was 42.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at First Baptist Church of Slocomb with Rev. Dan Raley officiating and his daughter, Ashley Berry delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Slocomb on Friday, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Fugate was born December 2, 1970 in Houston County to David Saul Fugate and Sandra Faye Blount Watson. Dwayne placed his faith in Christ at a very early age and was a member of Slocomb Baptist Church. Dwayne, along with his wife Mary, owned and operated D&M Trucking Company. Dwayne was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He adored his babies, Addyson and Maddox, who affectionately referred to him as “Pa”. Dwayne will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam and Bonnie Blount; fraternal grandmother, Lou Ann Holloway and her husband Thomas; and his paternal grandfather, S.C. Fugate.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hidle Fugate, Malvern; two daughters: Kristie Kelly, Malvern and Ashley Berry (Jamey), Rehobeth; two grandchildren: Addyson and Maddox; mother, Sandra Watson (Gerald), Slocomb; father, David Fugate (Dianne), Slocomb; sister, Stephanie Atwell (Steve), Dothan; brother, Rodney Fugate (Teresa), Slocomb; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ben Harris, Ted Harris, Tyler Harris, Jesse Scott, Clay Pope and Jonathan Barron.

He was always talking about Mary and his Grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May God's love and grace shine upon you all during this difficult time.
So sorry for your loss! I did not know Dwayne very well but i did know Stephanie and Rodney very well! My prayers are with the family.

Mary I was so saddened by the news of your loss. As you remember I became good friends with Dewayne when yall ran store, and l learned to love him , have been and will contuine to pray for you, would liked to have gone but can't drive but love you. May God give you strength.

Mary he was like a dad to me. At times he would ask me thing about something he wanted my opinion on, and I would do the same. There is not a day goes by I don't think about him. He was a wonderful friend.
