Mr. Laverne M. Fisher of Slocomb passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 91.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hixson and Rev. Matt Pollard officiating.
Mr. Fisher was born January 18, 1927 in Alexander Village, NY to the late Charles S. and Mary Adelaide Newell Fisher. Mr. Fisher graduated from Alexander High School and completed college to become an electrician. He worked as an electrician at Amex Inc. in Akron, NY for 27 years and Fisher Price in Medina, NY. Mr. Fisher married Lois Mae Warner, April 17, 1952. They raised three children in South Alabama, New York. They moved to Orlando, FL and he worked at the Hilton Hotel until his retirement. They enjoyed retirement years in Orlando, spending time at beaches along the East Coast of FL. Later they moved to Quitman, GA where they lived at Presbyterian Home Retirement Community. He enjoyed golfing at the Quitman Country Club and visiting the local Burger King. He moved to Slocomb, AL June 30, 2018 to be with his family. Mr. Fisher will be dearly missed.
His parents, his wife, Lois M. Fisher and sister, Genevive Crawford all preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce McGill, her husband Tim; Janet Pollard, her husband, Chip; one son, Raymond Fisher, his wife, Debbie; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Lega; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
