Mr. Glen T. Smith of Dothan passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at SAMC.  He was 96. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Joseph Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.  Mr. Smith was born June 29, 1921 in Geneva County to the late Edgar and Bertie Seay Smith. Glen was a proud United States Army veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II and was privileged to join with other veterans in an honor flight to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. He loved listening to country music and was a Hank Williams fan.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  In addition to his parents, his wife, Agnes Williams Smith; sisters: Gladys Cox, Edna Marsh and Carmie Hall; brothers: Royce R. Smith and Edsel Buchanan Smith all preceded him in death.  Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Kay and Gary Mattox, Headland and  Joan and Chester Seay, Dothan; two grandchildren:  Chet Seay, and Scott (Becky) Seay; and one great granddaughter:  Amanda Seay; sister-in-law, Mae Nell Smith; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.  The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Sommerset Assisted Living Facility and Mr. Smith's caretaker, Yvonne Staffold, for the love and care given to him during his illness.

I had the pleasure of driving Mr. Glen yo and from the senior center he attended and he was the sweetest man. He loved to talk about Slocomb his home town. He will be greatly missed.
