Sylvia Fay DePriest, 82, of Hartford, Alabama, passed on January 3rd, 2018, in Dothan, Alabama.
Sylvia was born in Bibb County, Alabama, to Cleburne and Orva Bailey Shows. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Frank DePriest; her sister, Peggy (Jim David) Saliba; her four children, Toby Smith, Beverly (Larry) McDuffie, Timothy (Leslie) Smith, and Katie Smith; her two stepdaughters, Kim DePriest Tuzzio and Stephanie DePriest Robbins; her ten grandchildren, Jessica (Keith) McDuffie-Massey, Matt (Hillana) McDuffie, Britt (Jamie) Wolf, Wes Murray, Ally (Glenn) Smith, Chase (Ashley) McDuffie, Avery (Joel) Davis, Melissa (Chase) Richardson, Paden Smith and Amanda (Brad) Hunter; and nine great-grandchildren.
“Nani Dee” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was proudly the first female Mayor of Paint Rock, Alabama. She loved to travel and went to places such as Israel, Australia and Spain. She lived in Geneva County, Alabama for the past 25 years and was a member of Hartford First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, was an avid reader and adored the beach. Most importantly, she was a loving and affectionate grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed.
A private family service with interment will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park & Chapel in Tuscaloosa. The family requests that you honor Sylvia's memory with your kind thoughts and prayers for her family.
