Mrs. Shirley Peacock Carroll of Slocomb gained her heavenly wings, Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was 81.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Teddy Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Carroll Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Carroll was born August 29, 1936 to the late Hugh Dorsey and Lota Lee Lott Peacock. Shirley married the love of her life, David Carroll in 1955 and together they raised three children: "Butch", Becky and Tim. Over the years she was a seamstress to many. Her work can be found in homes throughout the Wiregrass in the way of curtains, quilts and other works. Her cooking was second to none! She was the family matriarch and was loved by many; especially her children and grandchildren. They were her greatest JOY! In addition to her parents, a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Carroll Paschal; sisters: Peggy Collins and Patricia Holland; and brother, Ricky Peacock all preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, David Carroll, Sr.; two sons: David "Butch" Carroll Jr. (Sherri) and Tim Carroll (Teresa Vaughn); grandchildren: Shonda Bedingfield (Wesley), Josh Carroll, Shelby Fondren (Patrick), Hannah Carroll and Trey Carroll; sister, Brenda Bradley (Pat); brother, Hugh Peacock (Mary); several nieces, nephews and other special family members.
