Friday, December 29, 1939 - Thursday, July 6, 2017

Mrs. Peggy Janice Burdeshaw of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 6, 2017 at her home. She was 77.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Coley M. Holloway and Rev. Larry Newton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Burdeshaw was born December 29, 1939 in Geneva County to the late John Hubert and Ethel Mae Wright Dean. She was the strongest, wisest woman we have ever known. She taught us to love, to believe in Jesus and in ourselves; to be strong and live a life of love and happiness. She taught us how to be a parent just by how she raised us. We love you Mama and we are at peace knowing you are with Jesus, but our hearts ache today. We long to hug you one last time. To feel your hand in ours.

In addition to her parents, her first husband and the father of her children, Johnny Mack Burdeshaw; her second husband, James Earl Carroll; and one brother, John Earl Dean preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters: Allison Wells (Bobby), Clayhatchee and Renee Pickle (Mike), Lynn Haven, FL; two sons: Alan Burdeshaw, Fadette and Greg Burdeshaw (Wendy), Slocomb; grandchildren: Jason Burdeshaw, Joshua Burdeshaw, Hannah Burdeshaw, Scottie Burdeshaw (Brittany), J.C. Burdeshaw, Cameron Wells (Ashley), Alli Wells, Emily Pickle and Jacob Pickle; two great-grandchildren: Marlie Caballero and Cason Wells; sisters: Genny Smith, Doris Sorrells, Carolyn Lasseter and Bobbie Mayo; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Such a great lady. I have always loved and respected Ms Peggy. I so wish we could have gotten around to visit her more. I can remember the good old days hanging out at ya'lls house and mom and Ms Peggy having their coffee and chatting. She will be greatly missed for sure.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Growing up as neighbors when we were kids, your mom was always so kind when we visited. May God lighten pain your hearts during this sorrowful time in your life.

Dear Burdeshaw Family,
I am writing to extend my condolences. Mere words cannot convey the feelings of disbelief and sorrow that result from losing someone you dearly love. Please do not dismay, for God has a purpose for those who are sleeping in death.
In the book of John 5:28, 29 Jesus says, All in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. Yes, your dear loved one will live again, so don’t think of your loss as permanent. Also, Ecclesiastes 9:5 says that, the dead are conscious of nothing at all. How comforting to know that our dear loved ones are not suffering!
It is my sincere hope that you get a great measure of comfort from the Holy Scriptures.
