Mrs. Geraldine Snell McLean passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 after a brief illness. She was 98.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Christian Home Church of Christ with Minister Mark Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

 

The family will receive friends at the church on beginning at 1:30 p.m. and continuing until service time.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christian Home Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, c/o J.B. Riley, 1063 South State Highway 123, Newton, AL 36352.

 

Mrs. McLean was born July 14, 1918 in Houston County to the late John Wade and Nora Herring Snell. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Christian Home Church Of Christ. She was a homemaker by trade and enjoyed working and doing for her family and church family in whatever way she was needed. At the age of ninety her life was slowing down and "her work" became Word Search puzzles, which she enjoyed in her latter days.

 

In addition to her parents, her husband of 50 years, Howard McLean; sons: Jerry and Lomax McLean; daughter, Judy Kirkland; great grandchildren: Chandler Beth Kirkland, Tyler Murray and Addison Gross; sister, Lucille Snell; brothers: James, David and Randolph Snell all preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include a daughter, Janis Watson (Morris); son-in-law, Charles Kirkland; daughters-in-law: Alice McLean and Jean McLean; eleven grandchildren: Sara Jo Adams, Melanie Hoover, Alan Watson, Elizabeth Murray, Michael McLean, Denise Brown, Jason McLean, April Reynolds, Greg McLean, Zane Kirkland and Amber Gross; 21 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Joan Frazier; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

 

Mrs. McLean's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Aunt Geraldine was a very special woman in my life. I will always cherish the many memories that I have of her. I pray for God to comfort her family during this time. We will miss her dearly.
