Mrs. Jimmie L. Starling of Wicksburg passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at her home. She was 86.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb with Rev. Buddy Hood and Rev. Jeff Lundsford officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwater Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Starling was born December 12, 1928 in Houston County to the late James and Nettie Wilson. She enjoyed working outdoors in her flower garden, sewing, crafts and spending time with family and friends. In the past thirteen years, she was a fixture taking orders and waiting on patrons at the Pit Stop Barbeque in Wicksburg. Jimmie was blessed with the love for people and rarely had anything other than kind words and hope for the future. She was a devoted wife and nurturing mother who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, her husband, M. Luther Starling, son, Craig Starling and brother, RW Wilson preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her children: Don L. Starling (Debbie), Wicksburg, Kaye McCord (Van), South Carolina and Gary Starling (Amy Suggs, girlfriend), Wicksburg; brother Brady Wilson, Columbus, GA.; special friends, June, Robbie and Joanne; numerous friends and relatives.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Alacare Hospice, especially Teresa, DJ and Pace for their love and care.

Daunice and Gary, So very sorry to hear of Mrs. Jimmie's passing. I was in Birmingham until late Tuesday evening and did not find out until today after the funeral. Your mom always had a smile on her face when she was at the Pit Stop and she always lite up when she talked about you. Love and prayers.
