Mr. Leamon Rochell Cook of Slocomb went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, in the Fadette Pentecostal Ministries Church with Rev. Johnny Strickland and Rev. Jerry Norris officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.  Mr. Leamon will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. 

 

Mr. Leamon was born on March 23, 1923 in Geneva County to the late J. David and Airzonie Kirkland Cook. He was a faithful servant of Christ and attended Fadette Pentecostal Ministries Church.

 

In addition to his parents, the mother of his children, Mildred Cook; his second wife, Dorothy Cook, granddaughter, Kristie Cook; two half-brothers and three half-sisters all preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include three daughters: Linda Parker (Tom), Slocomb, Martha Smith (Ronnie), Slocomb and Deborah Hankins, Dothan; three sons: Rev. Jimmy Cook (Jackie), James Cook (Anna) and Roger Dale Smith all of Malvern; one sister, Mattie Rea White, Dundee, FL.; 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray Tindell (Betty), Paul Tindell (Norma), Dollie Kirkland (Charlie), Angeline Tindell and Dora Faye Avant; special niece, Vernell Pipkin; several other nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

 

Mr. Leamon’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

 

 The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to First Choice Hospice for the love and care shown to Mr. Leamon and the entire family during his illness.
