Mr. James Elton Carpenter of Malvern passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at his home.  He was 84. 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 in the Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Scott Cox officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests that contributions be made the Bay Springs Baptist Church. 

Mr. Carpenter was born October 24, 1936 in Barbour County to the late Oscar “O.H.” and Beatrice Campbell Carpenter. James worked as a cabinet maker for 40 years and served on the Geneva County Commission for several years.  He loved to fish when he could, enjoyed watching college football and was an avid Alabama football fan. Roll Tide! James was a loving man who cared for his family, loved them with his whole heart, and will be missed dearly. 

In addition to his parents, several siblings; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marilee Carpenter all preceded him in death.  

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Turner Carpenter; granddaughter, Markie Lamb and her husband Matthew; great grandchildren: Marilee, Caroline, and Mark Lamb; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
