Mrs. June Thomley Peters, 86, lifelong resident of Wicksburg, went home to be with the LORD peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Flowers Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until service time.

 

Mrs. Peters was born September 14, 1933 in Houston County to the late Tillis and Myra Thomley.  June was a devoted woman of faith who loved the Lord.  She was an adoring wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother.  She was a precious, strong, beautiful soul and will be greatly missed. “Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:25 & 30 

 

In addition to her parents, her husband, William Eugene Peters; her twin sister, Anne Somerset; brother-in-law, Donald Somerset all preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her children: Scott Peters and Teresa Hallford (Daniel); granddaughter, Alicia Hicks (Hayden); great grandson, Harrison; nieces: Beverly Wittkop, Wendy Haught, and Lisa Somerset; other extended family and friends.
