Mrs. Martha Y. Wright of Hartford passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was 81.

 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Hurricane United Methodist Church on County Road 69 in Hartford with Reverend Billy Ledbetter officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hurricane United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or Covenant Care Hospice, 151 West Main Street, Dothan AL 36301.

 

Mrs. Wright was born July 2, 1938 in Montgomery County to the late William and Ann Gilchrist Yarbrough. She was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College.  On August 17, 1960 she and William Talmadge Wright were married at Dexter United Methodist Church in Montgomery.  Until recent years, Mrs. Wright enjoyed playing bridge, visiting friends in the retirement center, traveling, and watching AU football.  She was a faithful member of Hurricane United Methodist Church.

 

In addition to her parents, her husband, William Talmadge Wright preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include three sons: William Franklin Wright (JoJo Purvines), Paul Randolph Wright (Peggy Buskey), and Michel Andrew Wright; three grandchildren: Anna Owens (Richard), Katarina Wright, and Brandon “Mickey” Wright; one great granddaughter, Josephine Owens; sisters-in-law: Sara Frances Wright Howe (James) and Margaret Wright Ledbetter (Billy); and the family dog, Hank.

 

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Carol Sheppard for the love and care she gave Mrs. Wright during her illness.
