Mrs. Corrie Nell Dawsey of Slocomb passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Flowers Hospital. She was 96. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Steve Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Home Church in Black. 

The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until service time. 

In lieu of flowers contributions in Mrs. Dawsey’s honor may be made to Slocomb Senior Citizen’s Center, 134 West Bateman Ave., Slocomb, AL 36375 or Faith Full Gospel Church, 12642 East AL 52, Hartford, AL 36344. 

Mrs. Dawsey was born May 18, 1922 in Geneva County to the late Perry A. and Eva Mims Sellers. Mrs. Dawsey retired from Dothan Manufacturing after many years. Nell enjoyed spending time at the Slocomb Senior Citizen’s Center where she served as President of the Board of Directors. She organized many quilting fund drives and volunteered her time in service to others. Nell was a great woman of faith, possessed a selfless spirit and will be profoundly missed by her family and the entire Slocomb Community. 

In addition to her parents, husband, Obie Lee Dawsey and daughter, Janice Geraldine Justice all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include two sons: Joe Dawsey (Sharon), Mobile and Ronald Dawsey (Beverly), Montgomery; four grandchildren: James Justice Jr., Jawana Justice Watson, Kimberly Dawsey Lane (Ken) and Jason Dawsey (Catherine); eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Doris Benton; special friends: Judy Strickland, her children, Jennifer, Amy, Eddie, and family; other extended family and friends.

Our condolences to Mrs. Nell's family. My mother(Juanita Hall) and she quilted many stitches together at the Slocomb Senior Center. Rest in Peace Mrs. Nell (perhaps under a warm quilt)
