Mrs. Ella V. Barley of Bonifay, FL went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 79. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Foster, pastor of the Barley’s home church, Christian Heritage Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida officiating. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church of Gaskin, FL Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.  Mrs. Barley was born May 11, 1939 in Ponce De Leon, FL to the late John Henry and Dora M. Hart. Mrs. Barley was an active part of the church community. As the wife of a pastor, she was a supportive member in the congregation. Along with her husband, she hosted many church functions at their homes. Over the years, Mrs. Barley traveled with her husband to over 50 churches expanding through the southeast to spread the gospel. Although she had worked in the citrus packing industry, she spent the majority of her life as a housewife. Mrs. Barley was well-known for her ability to whip up a delicious homemade southern meal, and for her love of mullet fishing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains. Mrs. Barley was a humble and loving woman who treated all individuals with sincere kindness.    “In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant child and many brothers and sisters.   Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Bro. Edward Barley; her daughter, Claudia Virginia Hatton (Ronald); her granddaughters: Shawna Nelson (Matthew), and Kristen Phillips; her great-grandsons: Logan, Fintan, and Daxton; other extended family and friends.

I was introduced to this beautiful lady many years ago by her granddaughter Shawna! They welcomed me into their family and then became my family. My heart breaks for you all because I know how great this love is for Mrs. Barley!! My prayers are forever with you all! Love the Horne Family!!
