Mr. Henry Hayward Peters of Hartford passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018.  He was 85. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Robert Gilley officiating and his grandson Spenser Peters delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Peters was born May 13, 1933 in Covington County to the late Preston and Nettie Lou Martin Peters. Hayward was a collector of things! He loved people and never met a stranger. Hayward was a loving husband, adoring father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. 

In addition to his parents, his beloved wife of 60 years, Emma "Jo" Farmer Peters; siblings: Myrna Smith, Winston Peters and Alvin Peters all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include daughters: Cindy Peters and Lisa Peters Branton (Gary); grandchildren: Spenser Peters (Rachel), Schyler Branton Lang (Bruce) and Ridge Branton; great grandchildren: Parker, Kolbi, Kenna and Karsyn Lang; sisters: Barbara Pullum (Kire) and Elizabeth Gilley (Robert); brothers: Billy Wayne Peters (Charlotte) and Murray Peters (Joyce);  several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
