Mrs. Katie Box Martin of Slocomb passed away, Thursday, January 4, 2018 at SAMC.  She was 80. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hixson and Rev. Travis Free officiating.  Burial will follow in Big Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of  Slocomb directing.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church “Vision Fund,” 4444 State Highway 605, Dothan, AL  36301 or to the charity of your choosing.  Mrs. Martin was born November 20, 1937 in Geneva County to the late Arthur Burch "Bud" Box and Johnnie Gertrude Cobb Box. She was a 1956 graduate of Slocomb High School and was employed with Malone Motor Company and SouthTrust Bank. She was a long time member of Rehobeth Baptist Church. Mrs. Martin was a devoted daughter, wife, mother,  and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and frequently enjoyed a cold glass of buttermilk.  In addition to her parents, her husband of 53 years, Bobby Leon Martin and two granddaughters: Sara Elizabeth and Sydney Grace Martin preceded her in death.  Survivors include two sons:  Tim Martin and Brad Martin both of Slocomb; a daughter:  Karen Strength and her husband Joe of Rehobeth; four grandchildren:  1st Lt. Jarred Strength and his wife 1st Lt. Alexandra Strength, Moody AFB, GA, Justin Strength, Athens, GA, Sam Martin and Emma Martin both of Slocomb;  a brother, Raymond Box and his wife Martha, Slocomb; sisters-in-law:
