Mrs. Shirley Rose Bullard of Gordon passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at SAMC. She was 78.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the Bullard Family Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.  Mrs. Bullard was born May 10, 1939 in Ludowici, GA to the late Albert H. and Thelma Christine Swindell Baggs. Shirley attended high school in Long County, GA where she excelled in sports and academics.  She was the captain of the Beta Club and received an academic and athletic scholarship to attend the University of Georgia which she turned down in order to marry the love of her life and start a family.  She enjoyed singing in the church choir and fishing. She was an amazing caregiver, ran the farm business with great work ethics, but her true passion was her children, grandchildren, adoring husband and her dogs. She was the glue and  backbone of her family and will be dearly missed.  In addition to her parents, her son, Buddy Bullard preceded her in death.  Survivors include her husband, Arthur Lee Bullard; one daughter, Lee Bullard; one grandson that she raised from birth, Chris Griffin; grandchildren: Emma and Cade Griffin, Josh and Ashley Bullard Webb, Jon and Jeremy Bullard, Jennifer Snider, Adam and Dylan Barr and Dustin Ingram; other extended family and friends.

Michael

Dear Bullard family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Shirley. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones as well as do away with all causes we have for suffering, including sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts will comfort your family also.
